What is IPTV Catch-Up?

Catch-up TV is a feature that allows you to watch programmes that were broadcast in the past, typically within the last 7 to 30 days. It works like this: when a channel broadcasts content, the IPTV provider records it and stores it on their server. When you select a past programme from the EPG, your player sends a request to the provider's server, which streams the recorded file to your device.

Not all channels support catch-up. Typically, major entertainment, sports, and news channels offer this feature, while smaller or specialty channels may not. The catch-up window (how far back you can watch) varies by provider and by channel. Most providers offer between 3 to 7 days of catch-up, with premium providers offering up to 30 days.

How to Use Catch-Up

Using catch-up is simple. Open your IPTV player and navigate to the EPG guide. Look for past programmes highlighted in a different colour or marked with a catch-up icon. Select the programme you want to watch, and your player will request the recorded stream from the provider. The stream starts from the beginning of the programme, not from the current time.

In TiviMate, catch-up channels are indicated by a special icon in the EPG. Simply select a past programme and press OK to start playing from the beginning. In IPTV Smarters Pro, catch-up content is accessed through the EPG or a dedicated catch-up section in the app. Some players also allow you to pause and rewind live TV as an alternative to traditional catch-up.
